Police in Badplaas have arrested two suspects aged 38 and 43 for possession of live ammunition, stock theft, and illegal hunting during the early hours of 22 April 2026.

According to the police, officers were on routine patrol when they were alerted by a security company about suspects caught for alleged illegal hunting.

Upon arrival, police found the two men and began questioning them. One suspect was found in possession of a licensed firearm with 15 rounds of ammunition and a magazine.

Officers also observed bloodstains on the suspects’ clothing, while two carcasses — one from a wild animal and another from a cow — were discovered at the scene.

Three cellphones were also recovered. The suspects allegedly told police the devices belonged to a third suspect who fled before authorities arrived.

Items confiscated include a bakkie, live and spent ammunition, knives, an axe, and the firearm for further investigation.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Emanzana Periodical Court on 23 April 2026. Investigations are ongoing.
