Two Arrested Following Middelburg Liquor Robbery

An intelligence-driven operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga has led to the arrest of two suspects linked to a business robbery at a liquor outlet in Middelburg on Saturday, 1 November 2025.

The operation was coordinated by the SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit, with support from the Middelburg Highway Patrol, Middelburg Detectives, and the Witbank Tactical Response Team. Acting on a reliable tip-off, the police tracked down and apprehended the suspects, who were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and seven live rounds of ammunition.

The suspects, aged 30 and 39, have been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Police also confiscated a silver-grey Volkswagen Polo believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.

Investigations are continuing to establish the pair’s involvement in the business robbery, during which cash, liquor, mobile phones, and a firearm were stolen. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at approximately R88,000.
