The Mpumalanga Department of Education has celebrated the remarkable academic journey of Dr M. Mashile, whose dedication and excellence have earned him a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Dr Mashile’s latest achievement marks the culmination of a decade-long pursuit of knowledge and professional growth. Beginning his teaching career at Letshele Secondary School in the Shatale Circuit in 2015, he later joined Masana Secondary School in the Mafemani Circuit in 2016, where his impact was immediate and profound. Under his guidance, the Business Studies pass rate rose from 45% to 85% within a short period, maintaining a consistent performance above 87% and achieving a perfect 100% pass rate in 2024.

His academic journey reflects an unwavering commitment to excellence. In 2017, he completed an Honours Degree in Leadership and Management at the University of Limpopo, followed by a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design and Development at the University of Pretoria in 2021. In recognition of his leadership qualities, he was appointed to the School Management Team in January 2025.

Being conferred with a PhD on 16 October 2025 stands as a defining moment in Dr Mashile’s career — a testament to perseverance, passion, and purpose. His achievement not only exemplifies personal success but also inspires fellow educators and learners across the province to pursue excellence relentlessly.
