Orlando Pirates concluded their 2024–25 Betway Premiership season with a 1-1 draw against Magesi FC at Orlando Stadium, marking the final appearance of captain Innocent Maela. Maela, who is retiring to assume a role within the club’s structures, received a standing ovation from fans as he exited the field in the second half.

The Buccaneers started strongly, with Patrick Maswanganyi opening the scoring in the 7th minute following a cleverly executed free-kick by Relebohile Mofokeng. Despite creating several opportunities, including a near miss by Thalente Mbatha, Pirates couldn’t extend their lead.

Magesi FC capitalized on Pirates’ missed chances, equalizing in the 32nd minute through Edmore Chirambadare, who was set up by Thabang Sibanyoni. The match remained level despite Pirates’ efforts, with Magesi’s goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze making crucial saves to deny Mohau Nkota and others.

The draw secured second place for Orlando Pirates in the league with 61 points from 28 matches, while Magesi FC finished 12th with 31 points.
