SASSA Launches Online Platform for Disability Grant Assessments, Enhancing Accessibility for Applicants

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is urging applicants for the disability grant to utilize its online platform to book medical assessments. How to Book an Assessment Online

Applicants can access the SASSA Services Portal to schedule their disability-related assessments. To do so, they need to:

Visit the SASSA Services Portal.

Sign in with existing credentials or register a new account by providing:

Citizenship and ID details

Full name

Email address

Cellphone number

Password

Existing beneficiaries will also need to provide their residential address, grant type, and payment method details.

Post-Assessment Application Process

After completing the medical assessment, applicants can proceed to complete and submit their disability grant application online. Before uploading, ensure all required documents are:

Certified

Valid within the last six months

Accurate and up-to-date

Eligibility Criteria for the Disability Grant

To qualify for the disability grant, applicants must:

Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee residing in South Africa

Be between 18 and 59 years of age

Undergo a medical assessment confirming disability

Provide a referral form completed by a treating facility

Meet the means test requirements for both applicant and spouse

Not be maintained or cared for in a state-funded institution

Not be receiving another social grant in respect of themselves
