SA Weather Service Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Gauteng, Mpumalanga

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms expected in Gauteng and the western and southern parts of Mpumalanga on 07 November.

“Thunderstorms will likely develop from late afternoon over southern Gauteng and southern Mpumalanga, moving northwards toward the rest of Gauteng and western Mpumalanga in the evening,” SAWS announced.

Rainfall between 15mm and 25mm is expected, with some areas potentially experiencing heavy downpours reaching 30mm to 40mm. These conditions may result in localized flooding on vulnerable roads, low-lying areas, and informal settlements due to the intense rainfall.

Residents in affected regions are advised to take precautions as the thunderstorms progress.
