Young SAPS Officer Joins Global Peace Programme

The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola, has congratulated Constable Kutloano Moloi on her selection as the first South African law enforcement officer to participate in the inaugural South Africa–Finland Youth Peace Mediators Mentoring Programme.

Launched in June 2025 during South Africa’s Youth Month, the initiative aims to develop a dynamic network of young peace mediators equipped with skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation, and post-conflict reconstruction. The programme was jointly established by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation’s (DIRCO) Diplomatic Academy and Finland’s Centre for Peace Mediation.

From thousands of global applicants, only fifteen young leaders were chosen — among them, Constable Moloi, representing South Africa. Since joining, she has participated in international workshops, youth dialogues, and conferences, including a visit to the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which she describes as a defining moment in her journey.

Constable Moloi began her policing career in 2023 through SAPS’ Project 10 000, joining the Public Order Policing (POP) Unit in Johannesburg. In her role, she helps maintain order during public gatherings, demonstrations, and events that could threaten community safety.

The 27-year-old officer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioural Sciences, with majors in Psychology and Sociology, and is currently pursuing an Honours degree in Psychology.

Commending her achievement, General Masemola said, “Constable Moloi’s selection reflects the calibre of young leaders within our organisation who are shaping the future of policing. We are immensely proud of her achievements and wish her continued success.”
