Woman Arrested in Ermelo for Drug Dealing

A 41-year-old woman was arrested in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, on January 5 after police uncovered drugs and cash at a house suspected of being a drug trafficking hub.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, confirmed that the operation stemmed from a tip-off received as part of Operation Vala Umgodi.
"Intelligence led officers to a house in Ermelo believed to be involved in drug dealings. Reports indicated that a woman was behind these activities," said Mdhluli.
Search and Seizure
Armed with a search warrant, police conducted a search of the house and its surroundings.
- Items Seized:
- A bag containing various drugs, including dagga, suspected Mandrax, and cocaine, valued at approximately R15,000.
- Cash amounting to R3,827 found in one of the rooms.
The woman was arrested and charged with drug dealing. She is scheduled to appear in the Ermelo Magistrateâs Court on Monday, January 6.
Commissioner Commends the Operation
Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi applauded the operation, calling it a significant step in tackling drug trafficking in the area.
âThis success highlights our commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of our communities,â said Mkhwanazi.
