Police launch manhunt after caretaker murder

Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for suspects following a violent house robbery and the brutal murder of a 56-year-old caretaker in a Polokwane residential area.

According to authorities, the caretaker was last seen alive on Friday by a co-worker. His body was discovered by the landlord yesterday morning.

Upon arrival, the landlord noticed the gate slightly open and the front door ajar. Inside, he found the house ransacked and the caretaker lying in a pool of blood.

“Paramedics confirmed him dead at the scene. The victim had been tied up and stabbed multiple times,” said Limpopo police spokesperson, Hlulani Mashaba.

He described the killing as deeply unsettling for the community, stressing that it was not only a robbery but also a cruel act of violence.

Police believe the motive was house robbery, but the suspects remain unknown. Investigations are under way, and community members are urged to assist with any information that could help track down the perpetrators.
