630kg of Dagga Seized at Oshoek Border Post

A suspect has been arrested after police intercepted a Volvo truck carrying approximately 630kg of suspected dagga, valued at more than R4 million, at the Oshoek Port of Entry in Mpumalanga.

The seizure was made at about 01:30 on Monday, 17 August 2026, during a search of vehicles arriving from Eswatini. Police discovered 49 bags of suspected dagga concealed in the truck.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Hartebeeskop SAPS, while the truck and trailer were also seized. The suspect is expected to appear in court on charges related to dealing in dagga.

Police are continuing investigations to determine the origin and intended destination of the consignment and whether more suspects are involved.
