The Mpumalanga Office of the Premier has vowed to strengthen service delivery, improve accountability and tighten oversight after appearing before the provincial Oversight Committee on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

During the presentation of the 2025/26 Annual Performance Plan, Premier Mandla Ndlovu assured the committee that government remains committed to transparency, clean governance and protecting public resources.

Addressing members of the committee, Ndlovu acknowledged findings raised during the oversight process and promised decisive corrective action where needed.

“We will always account, we will always implement, we will correct what is wrong, protect public resources, and above all, serve our people with integrity, speed and dignity,” said the Premier.

The session also heard a detailed report from Director General Maggie Skosana, who outlined progress made in financial management, staffing, youth empowerment, gender equity and digital transformation.

According to the report, the Office of the Premier achieved a strong financial performance rate of 98.2% during the 2025/26 financial year. Officials said the achievement reflects disciplined spending and strict cost-containment measures implemented across departments.

However, non-financial performance stood at 76%, prompting the office to commit itself to stronger monitoring systems and tighter oversight during the 2026/27 cycle to improve service delivery targets.

The province also reported progress in filling critical vacancies. Out of 41 advertised positions, 37 have already been filled while the remaining four posts are currently being re-advertised.

Government’s push towards digital innovation is also gaining momentum. The Office of the Premier confirmed that the new digital service delivery monitoring tool is expected to go live by the end of June 2026 after the successful completion of the first two phases of the project. Expenditure on the project currently stands at 85.3% of the allocated budget.

Youth development and economic participation also formed a key part of the presentation. Through the Premier’s Youth Development Fund, 66 youth-owned enterprises received support during the 2024/25 financial year, followed by another 54 beneficiary businesses assisted during 2025/26.

The office further announced plans to advertise 20 new internship opportunities for the 2026/27 financial year as part of efforts to equip young people with workplace skills and broaden economic opportunities in the province.

Gender equality within senior government structures also came under the spotlight. The Office of the Premier said it is implementing a proactive strategy aimed at achieving a 50/50 gender balance at both Senior Management Service and Middle Management Service levels.

Officials revealed that the province’s proposed new organisational structure has already been signed by Premier Ndlovu and submitted to the Department of Public Service and Administration for ministerial approval. The process is expected to be finalised before 30 June 2026.

The Office of the Premier said the presentation before the Oversight Committee demonstrates government’s continued commitment to accountability, ethical leadership and improving the lives of communities across Mpumalanga.
