The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Mpumalanga has raised serious concerns over alleged nepotism and corruption in the recruitment of traffic officers at the Mkhuhlu Traffic College, following a heated confrontation captured in a viral video circulating on social media.

In the video, Surprise Kubayi and other EFF members are seen confronting officials, accusing the institution of unfairly allocating opportunities to individuals linked to the African National Congress. The party claims that children, romantic partners, and close associates of politically connected individuals are being prioritised over deserving local youth.

The EFF argues that these alleged practices are depriving young people in Mkhuhlu and the greater Bushbuckridge area of equal access to opportunities intended to uplift the community.

The matter has been formally raised with MEC for community safety security and liaison Jackie Macie, with the party calling for urgent intervention.

According to the EFF, a list of individuals allegedly linked to nepotism and corruption has already been submitted to the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison. The party argues that this should enable authorities to act swiftly and decisively in investigating the claims.

The EFF has called for a transparent and independent probe into the allegations, warning that failure to act could further erode public trust in government institutions and deepen frustrations among unemployed youth in the area.

However, these allegations have not yet been independently verified.

The situation continues to spark debate within the community, with many residents expressing concern over fairness, accountability, and access to opportunities for local young people.
