Schools, teachers and learners from across the Lehukwe Circuit gathered at Mathibela Secondary School in Alexandra to celebrate academic excellence following the circuit’s strong performance in the 2025 matric results.

The circuit achieved an 83 per cent pass rate in 2025, a milestone that education officials described as a reflection of dedication from both educators and learners.

The ceremony honoured top-performing schools, outstanding teachers and high-achieving learners who played a role in the circuit’s success. Awards were presented in various categories recognising academic excellence, subject performance and leadership in education.

Speaking during the event, education officials commended the efforts of schools in the circuit to maintain focus on improving results despite the challenges faced by many rural schools.

School management teams from across the circuit also attended the ceremony to celebrate achievements and encourage learners to continue striving for excellence.

Education leaders in the circuit said the recognition aims to motivate schools and learners to aim even higher in the coming academic years, with hopes of further improving the circuit’s pass rate.
