Mkhuhlu Stadium was brought to life with excitement and competitive spirit as the Mkhuhlu Comes Alive Sports Tournament formed part of the build-up to the main event held on 13 December 2025.

The community tournament, featuring a Soccer Top 16 and a Netball Top 4, was organised to promote sport, encourage active participation and provide a platform for local talent to shine. Organisers said the initiative was created to support and uplift sportspeople in an area rich with untapped potential.

In the Soccer Top 16, Codes FC emerged as champions after edging Stellenbosch FC 1–0 in a tightly contested final. The winning team walked away with soccer jerseys, medals and a cash prize, capping off an impressive tournament run.

Netball action was equally thrilling, with Joint Forces dominating the Netball Top 4. They secured the title with a convincing 73–20 victory over Crystal Lake and received a cash prize for their efforts.

The Mkhuhlu Comes Alive movement has committed to hosting the sports tournament on a quarterly basis, alongside its main events, to ensure sustained development and exposure for local athletes. The tournament was proudly sponsored by Malo Inn Eating House.

As the initiative continues to grow, organisers have extended an invitation to potential sponsors to partner with Mkhuhlu Comes Alive in 2026.
