Joint Operation Recovers Eleven Stolen Goats

A joint intelligence-led police operation has resulted in the arrest of a male suspect found transporting eleven goats believed to be stolen, along with a reportedly stolen Nissan NP200 bakkie.

The operation, conducted on Friday 14 November 2025, involved members from Sekhukhune District, Roossenekal SAPS and Laersdrift SAPS in Mpumalanga. Acting on information received from Sekhukhune police, officers set out to track a suspicious vehicle travelling towards the Stoffberg Traffic Weighbridge.

The Nissan NP200, bearing a Mpumalanga registration number, was intercepted near the weighbridge. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered eleven goats loaded on the back. The suspect was unable to provide proof of ownership or explain the origin of the livestock.

Preliminary investigations further revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen at Akasia SAPS in Pretoria North. Police also indicated that the suspect may be linked to multiple other cases.

The man was arrested at the scene and will soon appear before the Jane Furse Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of suspected stolen property (stock theft). The recovered vehicle has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
