The ABC Motsepe League kicked off in electrifying fashion as Acornhoek United and Liver Brothers delivered a high-intensity Bushbuckridge derby at a fully packed Acorn to Oaks Stadium. With both sides being the only representatives from Bushbuckridge at this level of competition, pride and bragging rights were at stake as much as the three points.

From the first whistle, the atmosphere was electric, with supporters from both camps turning the stadium into a sea of colour, song and anticipation. The match lived up to expectations, offering end-to-end action, passionate challenges and moments of brilliance.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 85th minute when Acornhoek United were awarded a penalty. Harry Ndlovu stepped up with confidence and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, sending United fans into a wild celebration.

However, the joy was short-lived. Just two minutes later, Liver Brothers were handed a lifeline after a foul in the box resulted in a penalty of their own. They made no mistake, levelling matters in the 87th minute and shifting the game’s momentum.

With the clock ticking towards full-time, drama unfolded once more. In the 90th minute, Liver Brothers launched a swift counter-attack that stunned the home side’s defence. The decisive goal found the back of the net, sealing a 2–1 victory and sparking jubilant scenes among the travelling supporters.

Despite the loss, Acornhoek United showed determination and flair, with Harry Ndlovu standing out as a key performer. Liver Brothers, on the other hand, showcased resilience and a fighting spirit that earned them a memorable comeback win.
