Anthrax Cases Reported in Kruger Park
The Kruger National Park (KNP) will offer South Africans free entry during National Parks Week from 22 to 26 September 2025.
The initiative aims to encourage citizens to visit and learn about their natural heritage, with a special focus on neighbouring communities who may not usually afford the entry fees.
According to KNP spokesperson Reynold Thakhuli, the free access applies to day visitors only and South African identity documents must be shown when booking. Children under 16 years can enter without proof of identity. Online bookings are essential, as daily quotas will be in place to avoid congestion.
Visitors are reminded that no alcohol, loud music or drones will be allowed in the park. Braais will only be permitted at designated picnic sites, and all park rules, including speed limits, will be strictly enforced. Commercial tour groups and overnight guests are excluded, except on 24 September, Heritage Day.
Alongside free entry, several community-focused activities will take place, including conservation education for learners, road safety awareness campaigns, a cultural celebration in Matsulu, and a greening project launch in Giyani.
“National Parks Week is about opening doors for all South Africans to enjoy their parks and natural heritage,” Thakhuli said.
