Police are investigating a tragic shooting incident at Buyisonto Trust on 17 November, where a 54-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed by his brother.
According to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the suspect reportedly shot his brother at point-blank range without any apparent argument before fleeing the scene on foot.
“The matter was reported to the authorities, and upon their arrival, the victim was certified dead on the scene. A murder case has been opened, and a manhunt for the suspect was immediately launched. The motive for the killing is currently unknown and will form part of the investigation,” said Mdhluli.
Suspect Still at Large
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward by contacting the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or submitting tips via the My SAPS app.
“All received information will be treated as confidential, and callers may choose to remain anonymous,” Mdhluli assured.
Strong Condemnation from Police Leadership
Acting Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the incident, expressing concern over escalating violence within families.
“This kind of senseless violence is deeply concerning. I urge families experiencing disputes to seek professional assistance rather than resorting to violence,” said Mkhwanazi.

As the police continue their search for the suspect, authorities are appealing to the community to assist in bringing the perpetrator to justice. Meanwhile, investigations into the circumstances leading to the shooting are underway.
