Taxi Boss Slain In Drive-By Attack

A taxi boss and his two bodyguards were killed in a drive-by shooting in Delmas,
Mpumalanga on Saturday night. The attack took place around 8:30 pm on Rakwena
Street in the Botleng area, according to police.

The 34-year-old taxi boss was driving his own vehicle, escorted by the two bodyguards
in a separate car when assailants drove up and opened fire on both cars. The taxi boss
and his guards were fatally shot. A woman was also injured in the shooting and taken to
the hospital.

Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the identities of the deceased are
being withheld pending family notification. The motive for the deadly ambush remains
unclear.

A team of investigators has been assigned by Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Lt.
Gen. Semakaleng Daphney Manamela to apprehend the perpetrators. Manamela
strongly condemned the fatal shooting.

Mdhluli said further details will be released as the investigation unfolds. For now, police
are piecing together events leading up to the shooting and working to identify suspects.
They urge anyone with information about the drive-by attack to come forward.
