Suspect Nabbed With Allegedly Hijacked Car on N4

Police have arrested a 50-year-old man found driving a reportedly hijacked vehicle on the N4 highway in Mpumalanga. Themba Dan Senama was apprehended by the Middleburg Flying Squad on January 10th and appeared in the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the incident.

Authorities say the white VW Polo was initially hijacked in Mamelodi, Gauteng on January 9th. The next day, officers on routine patrol spotted the cloned car being driven by Senama towards Nelspruit.

Upon investigation, they determined the vehicle matched the description of the hijacked Polo. Senama was promptly taken into custody.

Police suspect the suspect was transporting the stolen car to be handed off to potential collaborators. The investigation continues as authorities work to dismantle the larger car theft operation.

For now, Senama faces possession charges as the case was postponed to January 22nd. Officers cannot rule out additional counts as the probe unfolds.

Provincial Commissioner Lt. Gen. Semakaleng Daphney Manamela praised the swift recovery of the vehicle. She said continued cooperation between police and citizens is vital to curb this type of crime across the province.
