The Council of the University of South Africa (Unisa) has warned Minister of Higher Education & Training Blade Nzimande not to put the university under administrative control.
The order was granted on Friday morning, according to X’s social media posts.
The University of South Africa (Unisa) has received notice from Nzimande that he intends to put it under administrative control.
Nzimande is anticipated to make his final judgement public on Friday.
Nzimande’s notice of intention to act, dated October 4, 2023, “is in violation of the above Honourable Court order granted by Mr Justice Adama on August 24, 2024, and in particular order number 8,” the court ruling states.
In August, Nzimande gave the Unisa council seven days to explain why the institution should not be placed under administration.
