The native game that three children of the same age were playing reportedly turned
fatal when one of them, who was 12 years old, had been stabbed to death by another
12-year-old. According to reports, the horrifying tragedy happened yesterday, Tuesday,
July 11, 2023, at about 11:20 a.m. near Matsulu C, outside of the City of Mbombela.

Another 12-year-old who apparently witnessed the incident recounted that the group
was playing mrabaraba when his two friends started fighting.

Further allegations state that one of the kids slapped the other with an open hand
following a miscommunication between the two. The aggressor allegedly attacked the
victim by grabbing two shattered beer bottles and stabbing him multiple times with both
bottles.

Thereafter it is said that the child suspect fled the scene meanwhile the third child
reported the matter to the victim’s family. The victim’s family immediately took the victim
to the clinic where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A murder case was opened at Matsulu Police Station and the minor suspect was later
located and arrested that day around 15h00.

Probation officers were brought on board to assist as the case involves a minor and the
suspect will undergo some kind of assessment in due course then more details
regarding his court appearance will be communicated accordingly.
