July 6, 2023Is Zandile khumalo’s letter to the president attention seeking?
Zandi Khumalo,a South African musician, wrote to President Cyril Ramaphosa about being present
when Senzo Meyiwa was shot and died in October 2014.
Following the firing of Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela, Khumalo, a witness in the ongoing case, published
an open letter to President Ramaphosa on her Instagram page.
Ramaphosa banned Maumela from the Senzo Meyiwa trial last week because the judge wasn’t
handing down decisions in a timely manner.
Ramaphosa was then asked to give the case priority by Khumalo.
Zandi requests that a legal team be appointed by the government to work on the matter from
Monday through Friday. This team would devote all of its attention on the murder trial and nothing
else.
Zandi further said these delays had caused the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper’s fans heartbreak.
“Mr President, I think I speak for almost everyone when I say the postponements, delays and breaks
have been more than enough, and it is time we completely do away with them.”
