A warrant for his arrest was issued when the 48-year-old foreign national abandoned his
bail application. On June 9, 2023, Piet Retief Station Commander and his squad
apprehended Peter Aji Ekemah for drug peddling during an intelligence-driven
operation. The accused was discovered in possession of methamphetamine,
methcathinone, and cocaine with a street value of R400 000-00.

The accused appeared in the Piet Retief Magistrate Court on 23 June 2023 for a formal
bail application, but his application was denied because he was linked to five more
incidents of drug dealing under investigation by the Secunda-based Organised Crime
Investigation. His case was rescheduled for July 5, 2024, to allow for the appointment of
a new attorney and the possibility of a formal bail application.
