A 48-year-old mother and her three boys aged 15, 09 and 05 died as the fire rages through their
shack in Embalenhle extension 18 on Friday, 12 May at about 20h00.

Police attended to the call and firefighters managed to put out the fire blazes.
Someone approached the police from the crowd and said that he is the owner of the home and
that he had just gotten home from work when he was met with the incident. Even though he had
no notion what might have happened, he was nonetheless able to give the police the names of the
victims. The family used a petrol generator to keep the lights on, according to the preliminary
inquiry.

The investigation is ongoing but currently, the cause of the fire is unknown, and four counts of
an inquest are being investigated.
