The Suspect was arrested by the Hawks Nelspuit-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation team together with TRT Mpumalanga during a disruptive operation conducted on Thursday 06 April in the Kabokweni area.

 Information was received from SANPARKS that there are illegal firearms in a house in Spelanyana (Kabokweni). The information was operationalised, and a search was conducted at the house of the suspect. Three firearms were recovered. It was established that the suspect had licenses for two of the firearms, a 410-calibre shotgun and a point-22 rifle. 

The third firearm, a 12-gauge shotgun did not belong to him. The legal owner of the shotgun gave the firearm to him for safekeeping as he does not have a safe.

The suspect was arrested for illegal possession of firearms. Seven shotgun rounds and two 303 rounds of ammunition were also recovered. 

An additional charge of illegal possession of ammunition was also added. All firearms were seized for further investigation. 

During the inspection, it was found that there is also no safe in the residential address of the suspect. The suspect appeared before the Kabokweni Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 11 April. Investigation continues.
