Swift police action led to the recovery of a hijacked vehicle in Calcutta on 3 March 2026.

The White River Flying Squad responded to a call from a tracking company about a silver-grey VW Polo with Mpumalanga plates that had been stolen at gunpoint by two unknown men.

The car was said to have been stolen in Shatale, under the Bushbuckridge police area. The police immediately launched a search and later found the car in Malubane, also known as Ma “F” Section, in the middle of the road with no keys.

Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was later towed to the Nelspruit Vehicle Identification Section (VIS) for further investigation and safekeeping. Police investigations into the incident are continuing.

The police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in locating the suspects or advancing the investigation to contact Sergeant Detective Mduduzi Nkambule on 082 220 8370 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Information can also be submitted through the MySAPS App.

Police have assured the public that all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality, and callers may remain anonymous.
