Kruger National Park, one of South Africa’s most treasured natural assets, is facing significant challenges following devastating floods that caused widespread damage to roads, bridges and visitor facilities.

With recovery costs estimated at over R500 million, the floods have placed immense pressure on SANParks’ resources at a time when the park is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The damage has also affected tourism activity, threatening livelihoods in communities that depend on Kruger National Park.

In response, the Graskop Gorge Lift Company has donated R100 000 to the SANParks Honorary Rangers Flood Disaster Relief Fund, offering vital support to the recovery and restoration efforts.

The company has also called on other tourism operators, businesses and members of the public to contribute, emphasising that every donation makes a difference in restoring access, protecting wildlife and supporting the tourism economy.

“We hope our contribution inspires other tourism entities, businesses and concerned citizens to step up,” said Oupa Pilane, co-founder of Graskop Gorge Lift Company.

“The park belongs to all South Africans, and it is our collective responsibility to protect this national treasure during its milestone year.”

Members of the public and businesses wishing to assist can make donations directly to the SANParks Honorary Rangers Flood Disaster Relief Fund. Contributions of any size will help ensure that Kruger National Park continues to thrive for generations to come.
