The Bushbuckridge music fraternity is in mourning following the passing of Sandile Mukasi, affectionately known as Mama Cindy, a respected and much-loved figure within the local music community. She passed away on 12 January 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, unity and unwavering support for local artists.

Through her involvement with the Bushbuckridge Music Association (BUMA), Sandile Mukasi played a significant role in strengthening relationships within the music industry and supporting emerging talent across Bushbuckridge. She was widely regarded as a unifying force, always willing to lend a helping hand and advocate for the growth of the creative sector.

In honour of her life and in solidarity with her family, BUMA has called on its members, as well as other music organisations in Bushbuckridge, to contribute R100 per member towards funeral and related financial arrangements. The association has further noted that any additional contribution, regardless of the amount, will be deeply appreciated and will assist the family during this difficult time.

The funeral service will take place on 18 January 2026, with the time to be announced.

As the community prepares to lay Sandile Mukasi to rest, musicians and cultural practitioners stand together in remembrance of a woman whose dedication and kindness left a lasting imprint on Bushbuckridge’s music landscape. Her spirit and contribution will continue to resonate through the work of the artists she supported.
