A 40-year-old foreign national is expected to appear before the Lephalale Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 1 December 2025, after being arrested for alleged drug dealing in the Lephalale policing area.

The suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation carried out by members of the Organised Crime Investigation and Narcotics Unit. According to police, the operation followed information received on Friday, 28 November 2025, at around 7:30am, indicating that a man was distributing drugs in and around Lephalale.

Officers operationalised the information and later spotted a vehicle matching the description provided. The driver, who was alone in the car, attempted to flee when he noticed the police. A high-speed chase ensued until the vehicle came to a stop. Police approached the suspect and conducted a search.

A plastic bag containing substances believed to be illicit drugs was found inside the vehicle. Officers recovered heroin and crystal meth with an estimated street value of more than R15,000.

The suspect was immediately arrested and is due to face a charge of dealing in drugs when he appears in court on Monday. Police say investigations are still ongoing.
