The 2025 GKEPF–JMF U19 Cup officially kicked off on 25 November, with excitement rising as teams received their kits ahead of the men’s Group Stages, which began on 26 November. For young athletes across the Greater Kruger landscape, the journey to this prestigious youth tournament is now well underway.

The men’s football Group Stages run from 26 November to 6 December, hosted across four Bushbuckridge stadiums: Thulamahashe Old Stadium, Cunningmore Stadium, HUBS Sports Field, and Acorn–Oaks Stadium. Women’s football, featuring eight teams, and netball, with sixteen teams, will follow from 8–13 December at Thulamahashe New Stadium.

Sixteen men’s teams from communities throughout the Greater Kruger region are competing for a place in the Knock Out Stages. Fixtures will be played every second day at the four stadiums, with the full match schedule confirmed during the official launch event. Only the top eight teams will progress to the Knock Outs, scheduled for 8–13 December at Thulamahashe New Stadium.

This year introduces a significant shift, with Group Stage matches being hosted within the participating communities themselves. This community-centred approach strengthens local ownership, leadership, and the connection between youth, sport, and conservation efforts in the Greater Kruger landscape.

The kit handover ceremony once again proved to be a highlight of the tournament. More than just uniforms, the kits symbolise unity, identity, and pride. Players step onto the pitch representing not only their teams, but a shared vision to uplift local youth, strengthen community ties, and create meaningful opportunities through sport.

Organisers expressed gratitude to partner reserves, the Oak Foundation, donors, supporters, and community leaders whose dedication continues to make the tournament possible.

Matches will be streamed on SuperSport Schools from 8–11 December, with live coverage on SuperSport Channel 216 on 12–13 December.
