Two Suspects Arrested for Copper Cable Theft

Police in Limpopo have arrested two male suspects in connection with the theft of copper cables in Elandskraal, Sekhukhune District. The arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, in Tsantsabela village.

A joint team comprising the Sekhukhune District Tracking and Investigation Unit and Elandskraal Detectives acted on reliable information about suspects in possession of stolen copper cables. When police arrived at the identified address, they found the suspects, aged 21 and 19, with peeled copper cables, a pick, two spades, and kitchen knives believed to have been used in the crime.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly dug up copper cables from a Dropping Centre. They were arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and tampering with essential infrastructure.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Scheepers, commended the officers for their swift and coordinated response, emphasising the importance of protecting public infrastructure from criminal activity.

Both suspects are expected to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon, while investigations continue.
