Skukuza Safari Lodge Open Despite Fire Incident

Skukuza

The Skukuza Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park remains fully operational after a fire damaged part of its restaurant dining hall on Wednesday, 29 October 2025.

According to SANParks, all diners were safely evacuated during the incident, and no injuries were reported. Investigations are currently under way to determine the cause of the fire.

The blaze, along with the water used to extinguish it, destroyed a section of the restaurant roof. However, to minimise disruptions, a temporary dining facility has been set up using back-up systems, ensuring that guests continue to enjoy their stay without major inconvenience.

Clean-up and repair operations are already in progress, with further updates expected once assessments are completed.

SANParks and AHA extended their gratitude to the Skukuza Airport and SANParks emergency response teams, as well as the Bushbuckridge Fire Brigade, for their swift action in containing the fire and protecting guests and staff.

Despite the damage, management has assured visitors that the lodge remains open and safe.
