October 27, 2025Residents Voice Concerns at Bushbuckridge Mayoral Imbizo
Bushbuckridge community members used the recent Mayoral Imbizo to raise their concerns directly with the Executive Mayor of Bushbuckridge, Cllr ML Moroane, and the District Mayor of Ehlanzeni, Cllr E.I.T. Shabangu, during a joint engagement held in Ward 9.
The Imbizo created a platform for residents to speak openly about issues affecting their daily lives. Several government departments were present, including Home Affairs, which assisted residents with essential services.
One of the key updates shared was that Bushbuckridge Local Municipality is making progress in developing the Acorn Smart City at Arconhoek, a project aimed at modernising the area and boosting local development. The municipality also confirmed that every area in Bushbuckridge will have two street lights installed to help improve safety at night.

Housing development remains a priority, with two houses already completed in Shatale and two more currently under construction in Boikhutso.
However, crime has emerged as a major concern raised by residents, who say it continues to affect their peace of mind and livelihood. “We are tired of living in fear. Crime is getting worse and we don’t see enough action. Our children are not safe,” said a frustrated community member.
The mayors are committed to addressing the concerns raised and encourage the community to continue participating in such platforms to ensure accountability and progress.
The Imbizo forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen communication between the municipality and its residents, ensuring that service delivery challenges are acknowledged and addressed.
