The Bushbuckridge Local Municipality hosted a Wellness and Leadership Empowerment Seminar on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, led by the renowned motivational speaker, educator, and leadership coach, Dr David Molapo.

The seminar, initiated by Executive Mayor Lydia Moroane, aimed to inspire municipal employees, community leaders, and young professionals to prioritise personal wellness while strengthening their leadership abilities.

Mayor Moroane emphasised the importance of wellness in leadership. “As leaders, we carry the responsibility of serving our people with both strength and humility. Wellness is the foundation that allows us to lead with clarity and integrity,” she said.

Dr Molapo captivated the audience with his trademark energy and practical wisdom. He encouraged attendees to embrace self-awareness, discipline, and emotional wellness as key ingredients of impactful leadership. “You cannot lead others if you have not first learned to lead yourself. Leadership begins within — through purpose, character, and consistency,” he said.

An iconic yet sometimes polarising figure in Africa, Dr Molapo is the founder of the I Can Leadership Institute Africa and CEO of I CAN 4IR. He also serves as the Dean of Logos University USA’s Southern African Campus but describes himself, above all, as an educator.

Attendees left the seminar inspired and motivated to serve their communities with renewed purpose.
