The community of Emaphakama in Pienaar was left shaken after human remains were discovered in nearby bushes on Monday, 13 October 2025.

According to the Police, a group of women walking past the area spotted what looked like human bones and immediately alerted authorities. SAPS members arrived swiftly, accompanied by forensic experts and other relevant stakeholders.

The remains were collected and taken for further investigation. Police have confirmed that the probe will focus on identifying the deceased and uncovering the circumstances that led to the remains being found in the area.

Police are appealing to community members who may have a missing relative or who might have information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
