Young Entrepreneur Becomes Mall Ambassador

Ntsako Masilela Face of Acornhoek Mall

At just 22 years old, Ntsako Malesa from Greenvalley, Acornhoek, is already making her mark as a student, entrepreneur, and now the newly crowned Face of Acornhoek Mall 2025–2027. Currently studying through UNISA and running her own hair care brand, Sparks Moves, Ntsako represents a new wave of young women who are reshaping the narrative of rural youth through ambition and community-driven leadership.

Ntsako says her passion for community development is what pushed her to enter the competition. “I’ve always had a drive for helping in my community and creating change. Over the years, I’ve witnessed Acornhoek Mall as a company that has a huge interest in community development. I auditioned because I felt that my love for community engagement aligns with Acornhoek Mall’s core values,” she explains.

Unlike many contestants who enter pageants solely for the crown, Ntsako had a different mission. She wanted to enjoy the journey and build friendships. But when she made it into the Top 5, reality sank in. “I started being nervous from there as I didn’t know what to hope for, but I kept my hopes alive. Being announced as the winner brought a roller coaster of emotions. I was happy but in disbelief at the same time because the competition was very tight.”

Balancing her studies, business commitments and the demands of the competition was not easy. The pressure intensified when she fell ill during one of the busiest weeks. “I had to give my final push and make sure I completed everything in time. I learnt how to work under pressure, prioritise important tasks, communicate effectively, multitask and manage my time well,” she reflects.

For Ntsako, holding this title is more than just a personal achievement. “Being the Face of Acornhoek Mall is an incredible honour and a platform to inspire youth. It signifies the opportunity to be a role model, particularly for young women, showcasing confidence, resilience and determination.” She hopes to use her role to drive conversations around entrepreneurship, leadership and youth empowerment.

Her vision for the next two years is clear and purposeful. “I will be engaging with the community, supporting local businesses with networking and contributing to the mall’s vibrant atmosphere. This role will also allow me to network with stakeholders including tenants, customers and ambassadors to foster collaborations and opportunities,” she says.

Ntsako is passionate about women inclusion, youth empowerment and community development, and plans to anchor her initiatives around these causes. She firmly believes that platforms like Face of Acornhoek Mall play a vital role in shaping young leaders. “They teach youth about leadership and responsibility at a tender age and boost self-esteem. They also promote entrepreneurship by providing a platform for local businesses to showcase their products, contributing to local economic growth,” she adds.

As she steps into her new role, Ntsako carries with her the hopes of many young people in Acornhoek who see themselves in her story — a story of determination, service, and the belief that greatness can be achieved right here at home.
