Mpumalanga police are investigating a stabbing incident that claimed the life of a Grade 8 pupil from Senzangakhona Secondary School.

According to the provincial Department of Education, the learner was attacked by another Grade 8 pupil on 14 August after school. Emergency services, called to the scene by a teacher, declared the victim dead.

Department spokesperson Gerald Sambo confirmed that the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident.

“The circumstances leading to this tragic event remain unclear and are under investigation by law enforcement authorities. The department extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, classmates, and the entire school community during this time of immense grief,” said Sambo.
