Floodlight Failure Halts Engen Cup Final

Engen Cup final postponed.

The 2025 Engen Knockout Challenge, popularly known as the Engen Cup, served up a thrilling day of youth football on 05 July, with quarter-final and semi-final matches held at KaBokweni Stadium.

However, the much-anticipated final between Fortune Academy and Easthigh Academy FC ended in frustration after it was called off during the penalty shoot-out due to a lack of floodlights at the venue. The match had remained goalless through regular time.

Organisers have confirmed that a new date for the replay will be scheduled and communicated to both teams and supporters. The excitement remains high as the two academy sides prepare to battle once more for the coveted title.

Earlier in the tournament MP School of Excellence edged past KMS Screamers with a 1-0 victory in the quarter-finals.

Fortune Academy cruised past Bohlabela FC with a 2-0 win.

Easthigh Academy narrowly beat KMQ Academy 1-0.

In the semi-finals Fortune Academy advanced after a 0-0 draw with MP School of Excellence and a 4-3 win in the penalty shoot-out. Easthigh Academy sealed their place in the final with a 1-0 win over Bakoena Chiefs.
