The Hazyview police are actively searching for a suspect linked to the fatal shooting of local businessman Eddie Khoza at the Sand River Trust eatery on 4 June 2025.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, SAPS responded to reports of gunfire at the popular dining spot. Inside, officers found Khoza lying motionless, covered with a blanket .

Ndubane revealed that the suspect entered the premises disguised as a customer. Witnesses report that he suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot Khoza at point-blank range. As Khoza attempted to flee, he collapsed in the street, where he was shot again. Emergency medical services later declared him dead at the scene.

Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene. Police are calling on the public to assist in identifying the shooter and aiding the investigation.
