May 22, 2025Police Recover Stolen Vehicle Near Shiba
Low’s Creek police recovered a suspected stolen vehicle during a routine stop-and-search operation along the R38 road near Shiba Siding on 20 May 2025 at approximately 11:20.
While officers were conducting the operation, a team from a tracking company approached them. The team reported they were tracking a hijacked vehicle, and their tracking device indicated that the vehicle was stationary in the vicinity of the R38 road.
Police immediately proceeded to Shiba Siding and began searching the area. The vehicle in question was soon discovered parked and abandoned near the roadside. Notably, the car had its keys inside and was fitted with a false registration plate that corresponded to a different but similar vehicle.
All relevant role players were summoned to the scene. Upon further investigation, the vehicle tested positive as a stolen car, previously reported missing in Randburg, Gauteng.
The vehicle was transported to the local police camp for further processing. At this stage, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
Police urge anyone with information that could assist in the case to come forward.
