Eskom Suspends Stage 2 Load Shedding After Generation Boost
On 15 May 2025, Eskom announced the suspension of Stage 2 load shedding from 22:00, following the restoration of 1,175MW of generation capacity earlier in the week. An additional 1,850MW is expected to return by 15 May evening, contributing to improved system stability.
The utility cited adequate emergency reserves and ongoing unit repairs as key factors in stabilizing the grid. Eskom emphasized its commitment to ensuring a reliable electricity supply and noted a decline in power cuts compared to previous years, attributing this improvement to sustained maintenance efforts.
Residents and businesses are advised to continue using electricity sparingly during peak hours to help maintain grid stability. Eskom will monitor the system overnight and provide updates if further adjustments are needed.
