Mozambican Nationals Arrested for Poaching in Kruger

Two Mozambican nationals, aged 29 and 38, were arrested on May 8

On May 8, 2025, two Mozambican nationals, aged 29 and 38, were arrested in the Houtboschrand Ranger area of Kruger National Park (KNP) for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as trespassing.

The arrests followed a coordinated effort by field rangers and the K9 unit after tracking footprints of three suspected poachers. The suspects were located near Gorge Block, where two were found hiding under an antbear burrow. A hunting rifle with eleven rounds of ammunition was recovered.

The two arrested individuals are scheduled to appear in the Skukuza Periodical Court. The third suspect remains at large.

This incident underscores ongoing efforts to combat illegal hunting activities within the park.
