In a nail-biting match, Mpumalanga (MP) School of Excellence FC secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Mabila All Stars FC in the Hollywoodbets Regional League at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, April 6.

Both teams started slowly, but the desire to win was clear throughout the match. MP School of Excellence broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Tebogo Ndlovu scored the opening goal. Just two minutes later, Casswell Ndlovu doubled their lead, catching Mabila All Stars off guard once again.

Early in the second half, MP School of Excellence’s Nkosimphile Mkhabela received a yellow card for blocking a promising attack. There was also a moment of controversy when the referee refused to award a penalty after Lorrence Sigubudu was fouled in the box following a counter-attack.

Despite this, the team stayed focused, and Sheriff Nkosi scored the third goal in the 75th minute. However, his excitement was short-lived as he received a yellow card for a reckless tackle just three minutes later. Mabila All Stars then made a costly mistake by handling the ball inside the penalty area. With only seven minutes left, Wandile Khumalo converted the penalty, sealing a 4-0 win.

This win moved MP School of Excellence to fourth place on the league table with 32 points. Meanwhile, Mabila All Stars FC remain in 15th place with 26 points.

Mabila All Stars’ assistant coach, Siyabonga Themba, said they will work on their mistakes in the next game.

“I’m not complaining because the boys had played another game the day before. We don’t have enough squad depth to handle the pressure. The boys have been performing well in recent weeks, and they did their best today,” said Themba.

MP School of Excellence coach, Sibusiso Chiloane, praised his team’s performance.

“I want to congratulate the boys for their outstanding performance. They impressed me from the first minute. I hope they continue with the winning spirit in our upcoming games,” he said.
