Cycling for Change Limpopo Trio Nears Cape Town to Inspire Rural Youth
Three determined young men from Limpopo Karabo Mokoo (21), Maxwell Ndou (24), and Gauta Mahlakoane (22) — are cycling from Burgersfort to Cape Town to raise awareness and promote cycling in rural communities.
Known as the Gauta BMX Crew, the trio began their journey on April 2 from Tubatse, and are now just 320km away from reaching the Mother City. The cyclists temporarily paused their trip in Laingsburg on April 13 after Ndou sustained a leg injury.
“After a challenging day of injuries and time delays, the boys received medical care and physiotherapy. They are finally getting some rest and care. The journey will resume on 14 April,” said one of their main sponsors, DJ Karri.
Despite the setback, the cyclists remain focused on their mission: “Our dream is to inspire youth about the success of unity and hard work.”
Their journey has captured hearts across the country and gained widespread support on social media. Donations and encouragement have poured in from Standard Bank, MySol Holdings, Jacaranda FM, Fetakgomo Tubatse Mayor Eddie Maila, Burgersfort businessman Morgan Mohlala, and many other generous supporters.
Their resilience and unity continue to shine as they close in on their final destination, driven by a shared vision to uplift rural youth through sport and inspiration.
