A cash-in-transit (CIT) employee tragically lost his life following a collision on the R40 in Mbombela earlier this morning, April 8.

The accident occurred between the University of Mpumalanga and Kiaat Hospital when a CIT vehicle collided with the rear of an articulated truck. Emergency services responded promptly, but unfortunately, one of the CIT employees succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Authorities have since closed off the affected section of the R40 to allow for a thorough investigation and the clearing of the wreckage.

Traffic remains heavily affected, and motorists are urged to seek alternative routes until the road is reopened.
