Two Suspects Killed in Business Robbery

Crime Scene in Pienaar: Police Investigate Deadly Business Robbery.

Two men were shot dead during a business robbery in Gedlembane, Pienaar, at around 02:30 on February 17.

According to police reports, the suspects were part of an armed group that gained entry into a shop by using explosives on the door. Upon hearing about the robbery, the business owner contacted security for assistance.

When the security team arrived, they found the robbery still in progress. The suspects opened fire, prompting the security personnel to retaliate. In the shoot-out, two of the suspects were fatally shot—one died at the scene, while the other collapsed and died approximately 500 meters away.

A shop employee, a Somali national who resides at the business premises, was also injured in the exchange of gunfire. He sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh and is currently recovering in hospital.

The remaining suspects managed to escape, leaving behind their deceased accomplices. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting Detective Lieutenant Colonel Nokuthula Nkhoma at 082 469 2338, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or by submitting details through the My SAPS App.

Acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr. Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the incident and confirmed that a team of investigators has been assembled to track down the remaining suspects. “We are working around the clock to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice,” he stated.
