Hawks Probe Fraud in Agriculture Tenders

The Hawks’ National Anti-Corruption Unit is investigating fraud and corruption in two provincial Department of Agriculture tenders that were supposed to end in 2024.

A police captain has begun interviewing six Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) members, four women and two men, at the department’s offices in Nelspruit. Officials must provide statements, financial documents, and expenditure breakdowns dating back to 2021.

Several companies are under scrutiny, including Izandla Ziyagezana Trading 44, Thulatshepo General Trading, and Nutri SA.

Brigadier Thandi Mbambo confirmed the ongoing probe but declined to disclose further details, citing the investigation’s integrity.
