The Department of Education reports that the 2024 Grade 12 National Senior Certificate exams are continuing successfully, despite heavy storms that hit several schools across all districts. Today’s exams, which included English Home Language, First Additional Language, and Second Additional Language papers, saw students displaying resilience in the face of these challenges.

To ensure the exams proceeded smoothly, affected schools implemented contingency plans as part of the Department’s risk management strategy. Alternative venues, such as local churches and neighboring schools, were utilized to accommodate the candidates.

The Department is urging communities to remain vigilant and follow weather updates from the South African Weather Service, taking necessary precautions for safety.

Department officials are currently visiting the affected schools to assess the extent of the damage and determine the appropriate actions moving forward.
