October 24, 2024Sex Worker Murdered, Suspect Surrenders to Police

A 33-year-old man turned himself in to the Belfast Police on October 23, following allegations of the brutal murder of a sex worker on October 18. Reports indicate that the suspect had solicited the services of the victim, picking her up from the street and taking her to a farmhouse in Belfast.
While the two initially appeared to be getting along, a disagreement escalated into a violent altercation. The suspect allegedly strangled the woman and then stabbed her. After realising that she had died, he is accused of attempting to conceal the crime by burying her body in a shallow grave covered with stones.

The authorities are working to locate the victim’s family, and the suspect is expected to appear in the Belfast Magistrate’s Court shortly.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr.) Zeph Mkhwanazi extended his condolences to the victim’s family. “Our recently launched festive season operation prioritises addressing Gender-Based Violence. An intense investigation is underway to ensure justice is served for the victim,” he stated.
